A matter-of-fact, I’m drinking Coffee right now...
"SOMETIMES life is merely a matter of coffee and whatever intimacy a cup of coffee affords. I once read something about coffee. The thing said that coffee is good for you; it stimulates all the organs.
"I thought at first this was a strange way to put it, and not altogether pleasant, but as time goes by I have found out that it makes sense in its own limited way..."
~from Coffee, a short story by Richard Brautigan in Revenge of the Lawn
And for myself, coffee is a daily activity. An inspiration getting the dead bolts pulled back on my brain and permitting me to succeed in the little activities of the day. Without my French roast & chicory brew, I finish the day without beginning it. That means, action is reduced and my mind stalls without ever really getting a start. Plus withdrawal comes into play, awakening my tendency towards migraines. Divorced from my drink, creativity lies flat on its face and never reaches me. Everything hinges on this concoction.
What I ask you now is: what is Coffee to you?
Don't get me wrong, it is NOT a devil to me. I like the taste, enjoy its spark, all the while knowing, if I'm to keep my nerves, I'll have to quit it. Have you ever seen a little old person shaking all the time? That's nerve damage. And that's from the likes of coffee.
