The Window (La Ventana), 2008
Really enjoyed this picture by Argentinean filmmaker, Carlos Sorin. I was often reminded of Ingmar Bergman's 'Wild Strawberries.' Where Bergman gets lost in sentimental memory, Sorin's main character, an aged, dying man waiting for a visit from his long gone son, keeps a firm footing in reality. But not the swift, lackadaisical reality we all march through, but one where a bee in the window is significant, where the sun across a golden field is contrasted by the old man's softly blue pjs as he goes on his last stroll (reminding me of van Gogh's vibrant fields), & one where light & color overwhelm our technical addictions, leaving me glad to have made the cinematic journey.
